The Institute of Ecumenical Studies of the Ukrainian Catholic University was founded in 2004. Its mission is to develop a master’s degree program in ecumenical studies in Ukraine and abroad and facilitate ecumenical dialogue between churches, civil society and policy makers.

Staff of the institute are involved in various activities, including:

• Organizing an ecumenical social week that brings in international figures and acquaints the public with the response of various churches to Ukraine’s challenges today
• Sponsoring the Reporters of Hope competition, to encourage hopeful journalism
• Offering the world’s only online master’s degree program in ecumenical studies, including for English speakers
